Notarial Protest of financial instrument
Notarial Protest of financial instrument
A protest must contain a copy of the instrument and be signed by the notary making it. It must specify the name of the person at whose request the instrument is protested, the place and date of the protest, the cause or reason for protesting the instrument, and the demand made and answer given (if any), or the fact that the drawee, acceptor or maker could not be found if such is the case.
If an instrument is lost or destroyed or is wrongly withheld from the person entitled to hold it, the protest may be made on a copy or on written particulars of the instrument.
